Created by J.T. Yost

This year, Birdcage Bottom Books is hoping to introduce some incredibly talented cartoonists flying under the radar to a wider audience. By pre-ordering through this Kickstarter campaign, you'll both ensure these publications see the light of day and save money! This is also your chance to get custom artwork, original comics page art, exclusive mini-comics and more.

Hi Kickstarter backers! Just thought we'd let you know about a big sale we're having through Monday 11/26. It's on hundreds of comics, not just our publications but those in our distro as well.

I'm mailing out reward packages as fast as I can (while simultaneously filling BBB orders and working on a bunch of custom pet portraits). I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Last drawings / Last publications
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 01, 2018 at 01:27:18 PM

Hey'all,

I'm finishing up the last of my Kickstarter drawings, and I'm waiting on the very last publication of the year (Stephanie Mannheim's "Nate The Nonconformist Has A Rival!") to return from the printer. Word is, it shipped out yesterday, so I should have it in my greasy mitts very soon.

I've just received the interiors of Larkin Ford's "Goat Song" (I printed the covers on a risograph machine a while back), so I've been a one-man assembly factory up in here.

What this means for YOU is that anyone who is expecting comics, etc. from me will be receiving them soon! I'll be debuting the two new ones at Comic Arts Brooklyn (CAB) on the 11th, and then the shipping will commence. Please make sure your addresses are correct if you've moved, it's not too late!

MATINEE JUNKIE is here!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Sep 19, 2018 at 10:06:19 PM

Got a free workout in today loading thirty-seven 30 pound boxes down into the basement. I then went to start shipping and realized none of my shipping boxes can contain these huge books!

I've made an order from PaperMart (an alternative to the toxic politics of Uline), so I expect to begin the next phase of shipping rewards next Tuesday.

Last weekend's SPX was as fulfilling as always. I always feel reinvigorated and recharged after being submersed in such a kind & supportive comics community. Thanks to everyone who came out, it was great to see you! Special shout-outs to D. Bradford Gambles (artist behind "A Lone Deer At The End of The World") for flying out from Salt Lake City and Storme Smith of Buño Books for being an excellent table-mate (as always)!

See you at SPX?

Hello My Lovelies,

Some of you are picking up your rewards at SPX this weekend, so I'll see you at table W-10!

There was a hiccup at the printer, so they haven't yet delivered the bulk of Jordan Jeffries' "The Complete Matinee Junkie" books yet. They did overnight 30 copies to me, so I'll have some at SPX. I expect the rest to arrive sometime next week, and I'll start sending them out soon after.

I'm still chipping away at my custom artwork, so thank you for your continued patience (those who haven't received yours yet).

Lotsa new debuts!

Oh yeah, and our DiNKy award winning "BOTTOMS UP!" addiction-themed anthology is now back in print. It's also up for an Ignatz Award, so wish us luck!

Weekend Update!
almost 6 years ago – Wed, Jun 06, 2018 at 05:32:00 PM

Been a while since I rapped at ya, so I thought I'd check in.

We're very proud of Eva Müller for being one of two non-Japanese comics nominated for a Japanese Media Arts Festival award and for winning an ICOM Independent Comic Award for her book "In The Future, We Are Dead". If you missed the boat on getting it through Kickstarter, you can still order it here!

In other news, I've shipped out most of the April rewards (everything but those of you who got custom or original artwork). I'm plugging away at all of my custom art assignments, so keep an eye on your mailbox!

I talked these kids down from "flying on dragons over a forest with planes and helicopters flying overhead" to the more manageable "riding on dinosaurs".
